The meeting comes days after the finance minister told Parliament that he would discuss the possibility of further fiscal and monetary measures to revive economic growth, which is projected to fall to 7.1 per cent this year, as against 9 per cent or more in the last three years. The Central Statistical Organisation is due to release the third-quarter gross domestic product estimates by the end of the week. RBI is expected to announce more measures after the data is released.

The Indian men's and women's badminton teams crashed out of the Thomas and Uber Cup finals after suffering identical 0-3 defeats to Indonesia and China respectively in the quarter-finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday. India's top shuttlers Parupalli Kashyap and Saina Nehwal gave a scare to higher-ranked opponents Taufik Hidayat and Yihan Wang before eventually going down 12-21, 21-10, 17-21 and 21-14, 11-21, 18-21 respectively.

The Centre has allowed slain Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam leader Prabhakaran's mother Parvathi Ammal to visit Tamil Nadu for medical treatment on certain conditions, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said on Monday. The Union government's decision has been conveyed through a letter to the Indian mission in Kuala Lumpur where she is staying at present, Karunanidhi said in a suo motu statement in the state assembly.
